An unidentified middle-aged woman is portrayed in a bust-length portrait within an artist's palette-shaped image window on this cabinet card attributed to E.A. Marow of Grand Ledge, Michigan, with the studio name and location printed in script along the lower mount border. The reverse is blank aside from a penciled notation reading "cab. (top trimmed)" and the catalog reference "9/12/15 / COLDZ," confirming the irregular upper edge of the mount is the result of later trimming rather than an original die-cut format.

The woman wears a dark bodice with a large, elaborately worked lace collar featuring a daisy or chrysanthemum motif and a small ornamental brooch at the throat, with a second brooch visible lower at the center front. Her light gray hair is dressed in loose waves close to the head, and she is turned slightly to her left with a composed, direct expression. The image is set within a heavily vignette oval against a deep black mount ground.

The artist's palette-shaped image window was one of several novelty vignette formats offered by American studios in the late 1880s and 1890s, typically printed on a black or dark mount to emphasize the shaped cutout, and marketed as an artistic alternative to the standard rectangular or oval cabinet card presentation.
