Prof. J.H. Master of Manchester, New Hampshire, bills himself as a mimic and ventriloquist with life-size figures in this large promotional composite cabinet card, the decorative black ground bearing hand-lettered text reading "Prof. J.H. Master / Mimic and Ventriloquist / With his Life Size King Figures of the World in their Merry Hours."

Six inset photographs are mounted on the black composite ground surrounding a central oval bust portrait of Master in formal attire with a mustache. The upper central image shows him standing with two full-body figures in a studio setting. The four flanking images present him with various life-size figures in different costume and pose combinations, including a clown-costumed pair at lower center, two standing figures in checked suits at lower right, and an acrobatic grouping at lower left. Each flanking inset carries a small placard reading "Professor Master, Mimic and Ventriloquist." A Star of David and crossed decorative flags appear in the central ornamental panel between the portraits.

Composite promotional cabinet cards of this type, assembling multiple performance photographs with decorative lettering on a black ground, were a standard marketing format for variety and vaudeville performers of the 1880s and 1890s seeking bookings across the American concert hall and variety theater circuit.
