The mount identifies the sitters as P. Götze of Weimar, Dr. Mors C. v. Blomberg of Berlin, A. Krause of Danzig, and E. Gresenius of Halle. The formal academic composition and inscriptions indicate a commemorative portrait marking their medical training.
Photographer’s imprint for G. Th. Hase & Sohn appears on the reverse. Handwritten inscriptions on the mount identify the subjects and date the photograph March 12, 1882.
