The two commercial signs visible on the facade — one for Haskell and Co. and a smaller placard for the Florida Brokerage and Commission Co. — identify this as a shared commercial address in a New York State wholesale district, most likely connected to the produce and commodity trade concentrated in lower Manhattan during the Gilded Age.

The building presents a cast iron facade with fluted columns, large plate glass display windows, and a bold painted sign spanning the full width above the entrance reading "C.C. Haskell and Co. Wholesale Butter and Cheese, 228." The five men stand at intervals across the full width of the facade in business dress, ranging from an older bearded man at far left to younger men at right. A smaller arched sign for the Florida Brokerage and Commission Co. is mounted to the right column at street level.

The mount corners carry the printed imprint of Bradish Photo Co., N.Y. in red lettering, with "Bradish" at upper left and "Photo Co. N.Y." at lower right.
