Boudoir format albumen photograph self portrait of a woman photographer shown standing beside her tripod mounted bellows camera in a studio setting. The photograph dates to the late nineteenth century, a rubber stamp photographer’s imprint, Webster, visible on bottom of mount.

The subject faces the forward with one hand steadying the tripod. Images showing photographers with their equipment are uncommon, and portraits by women photographers are particularly scarce in nineteenth century photography. The photograph documents both studio practice and equipment, including a full size bellows camera mounted on a wooden tripod.

Boudoir card mount with handwritten caption at the lower margin reading “Webster, Photographer.”
