Raw, rare, and unforgettable—this is 19th- and early 20th-century photography at its best. Vernacular portraits, Native American warriors, African American resilience, Mormon pioneers, Western frontier families, and stark post-mortem scenes. Daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tintypes, CDVs, and cabinet cards that capture real life without filters. Every image tells a story of survival, pride, and change. A museum-worthy collection for those who know real American history when they see it.

Endearing pair of sixth plate daguerreotypes featuring two expressive young children, housed together in a desirable full-size horizontal thermoplastic case with the "The Mother's Plea" design (Krainik 124). The pair includes a young boy posed with a violin across his lap, wide-eyed and dressed in checked attire, perhaps nervously awaiting instruction or simply clutching the instrument for the photographer’s benefit. The second image is equally charming—a slightly older child with tousled hair, seated in a high chair and wearing a gingham dress, framed beside a beautifully patterned drape and hat.

Both plates are exceptionally clear, showing fine detail in the textiles, props, and facial expressions. The surfaces are clean, with no distracting damage or tarnish visible under standard viewing. Brass mats and preserver are intact and matching.

The "Mother's Plea" thermoplastic case is in excellent condition, with both pegs intact and a strong clasp. Interior velvet lining is a rich burgundy with minimal wear. A superb and visually appealing presentation, ideal for collectors of early childhood portraits, musical iconography, or decorative cased images.
